2004 Premature Rear Break Wear
Took my 2004 SCrew 4x4 in for 30k service today (it has 33k on it). They called after normal inspection to tell me the truck needs new rear breaks. They said there appears to be no defects that warranty would cover.
However, my front (factory) breaks are in good shape. I have excessive break dust on the fronts all the time, barely any on rears. I don't do any unusual driving or towing, in fact most of my driving is highway miles in a rural area. Very little stop and go.
What gives? The service mgr even admitted that I should go through 2 fronts to 1 set of rears. Anyone else had similar issues?

I tried to get the dealer to replace them, but getting my local dealer to fix anything takes an act of congress. It's insane.

04 FX4 with same issue. Fronts have 60% remaining and rears have 20% with 52k miles and normal driving. You may want to check out the National Highway Transportation Safety Admin website as they have many known defects listed on most models. Havent checked yet, but worth a shot.
