Went from stock 235 75 17's... to 285 65 18's

Has anyone else done this?

Truck came with 235 75 17 cheapo cast iron wheels and cheapo brand AT tires and I swapped these out for some new 18 inch AMP wheels and 285 65 18 Toyo Open Country AT's. Diameter remains very close to stock.

Looks awesome and rides nice.

235/75/17 = overall diameter of 30.9" we'll round up and say 31
285/65/18 = overall diameter of 32.8' again, round up and saying 33

how is that 'very close'

and i thought stock size on a 'em was 235/70/17 which puts it at an even 30 which is an even bigger difference

yeah if they were 235/75's then the diameter difference between them and your new 285/60's is only about half an inch . 30.87 to 31.46 only about 1.9%.

You didn't need to do a level kit or lift?

I just ordered a 3" lift and think maybe 33's will look to small? Looks good on you rig with that height!

Well, I have not done a level kit or a lift but I was thinking the 2 inch adjustment on the front might look pretty good.

But it does not look that bad as it is either. Thanks for noticing.

Looks good, although I think it would look better if you dropped that rear a little bit (or raised the front).

I think you're right... 2 inches on the front would balance it out pretty well.

So, what is the best way to do this?

Autospring Corp. makes a 2.5" leveling kit that works pretty well for raising the front end, ALOT of people on here are using it. Its about $250
If you wanted to lower the rear, a set of shackles would be very easy to install. Im not really up to date on the price of shackles, but they shouldnt cost more than $300-400 (i would assume they are actually less than that though).

I think most of the leveling kits are around $100.

My truck has the autospring 2.5" leveling kit installed. The kit cost me $80 shipped (bought from a fellow member from this site) and it cost me $190 to have it installed and the alignment completed.

BEFORE 2.5" Leveling Kit Installed

AFTER 2.5" Leveling Kit Installed
