Brake proportioning adjustment..

Is there a proportioning valve on a '98 4x4 for the twin front calipers? I just changed the brake pads, and the top side of the pad is wearing a little quicker than the bottom. That tells me that the top piston is exerting more force. Is there a way to balance them?

No. What that tells me is that the caliper is bad and has a siezed piston. Both pistons in the caliper feed into a common chamber that exerts the hydraulic pressure. You apparently have one piston that's stuck. Replace the caliper.

See, that's the thing. Neither piston is seized. It's doing it on both sides at the top, just slightly more than the bottom. Is this common? I mean, the pads were worn maybe an 1/8" more at the top. If there's no adjustment, oh well, the pads have to be changed eventually anyway.
I just wondered if there was an adjustment short of rebuilding, which I would have done it I had time, and plan on doing next time. Thanks for the info, Joe.
