New tires for 06 F-150 4X4 18" Rims

I know there are already previous posts in regards to tires and sizes. I am putting in a 2" levelling kit in my truck. After that I want to get rid of those "great" factory BF tires! I will be honest to tell you that the only thing I know about tires is that they are round and come in black. I have been doing some reading from previous posts and have learned lots. I do want to get some bigger tires on the truck so I can get it a bit higher off the ground. I do not want to buy new rims. I just have the factory chrome lariat rims. What size can I go. I do not want any rubbing. As well would I need some kind of spacer to make the wheels stick out from the fender? I would like to keep the wheels inside the fender. I know that I can put 33" on the truck (that is the height I think!!) From doing research I am guessing that a 325/60 R18 will not fit on my rim. Is this correct? Also want a tire that is good in both the mud and snow. Any help on this would be hugely appreciated!

I would suggest the 285/65-18 BFG AT KO. THis tire works out to be a 33x11.50 tire, which is perfect for the OEM wheels. It will fit a 4x4 stock or with a leveling kit. You are right, a 325/60-18 (33x13.00) is a little too wide for the OEM wheels, which would probably cause the center portion of the tread to wear slightly faster than normal. Also, the only way the wheel/tire is gonna "stick out" is if you go to a wider aftermarket wheel with less backspacing than your OEM 18x7.5 inch wheels.

33's will fit fine on your wheels. If you can find a tire that is going to give you a width of about 12.5", then it'll look better and shouldn't give you any rubbing problems.

Some people worry about the rim width of your stock wheels and the wear of the tire, but air pressure will fix that problem, but if you run the recommended air pressure (which is the air pressure recommended for a rim width of 8-10 inches) then you will see more wear on the center of the tire.

Like Wandell said, the wheels that come stock on the truck are perfect. The backspacing that they have will allow for 35x12.5x18's with a 2-2.5" leveling kit without worrying about the tire stickout outside the fenderwells.

35x12.50x18 BFG MTs will fit your wheel fine and with the leveling kit it works also. I had mine with the leveling kit at first before the suspension. I even have a winckh kit on the front that weighs it down some and still not rub. But now I am loving the Rancho that is on the pic above.

bgoff,
About your sig photo - that is THE best looking green truck I've ever seen, hands-down!

Hell, that's one of the coolest trucks I've seen in ANY color! I love that tint job against the green paint.

Goff, that truck is sick...get the flowmaster 40's and you are the F150 god!

Did you have any problems with the 35's with just the leveling kit or did you NEED the lift?...looking for the same setup without any bank crushing lift!...

Thanks man..._motes
