New Tires

I just had my oil changed and tires rotated, and the service rep at sears said I needed new tires. Regardless of whether or not the tires are needed, I'm curious to see if larger (more likely taller than wider) tires will fit on my truck. I have a

2001 F-150 Supercrew Lariat 4x2
Rims are 17x7.5J
Tires are 275/60/17
Marauder Maxxis MA-S1 tires
No lift or anything.

It looks like I have low profile street tires, and would like to get something a little "taller" and more "offroad." While 95% of my driving is on pavement, I want to feel more comfortable off road, and like the look, within reason.

I looked at tirerack.com and they were able to identify tires in the 275/60/17 size, but, again, I think I want taller tires.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any suggestions?

look at your clearences...

take a look at your clearences at the fenderwell, and from lock to lock with the help of a friend look under the vehicle as the wheel is turned from lock to lock look for anythign that might get in the way, talk to a guy at a local tire shop or off-road shop, as for brands bf-goodrich all terrain t/a radials are the best good street manners, and enough tuff stuff to handle a little wheelin, and will alst as much as 50 to 60k miles if taken care of,

You can easily fit a 265/70-17 (32x10.50) tire on your truck. These tires are gonna be about 10mm narrower than your tires, but they will be a good bit taller. This is the same size most 4x4 F-150's came with.
