Tire Pressure confusion

The door sticker says 30psi for front, 35 for rear. The tire itself says 35-44psi. I always thought that you should go by the tire's markings but the tire manufacturer's website says to go by the vehicle's sticker.

Most of my driving is normal everyday stuff and towing a pop-up camper on weekends (about 1600lbs, 160 lbs tongue wt).

Which is more accurate or should I be looking different pressures altogether?

I've always found 40psi to be a good starting point on truck tires.

If the tire is the same type and load rating as the OE tire, use what is on the door sticker. If replaced with different load rating and type (p-series as compared to P-series extra load, LT Load range C, LT LR D, or LR E) you are going to have to figure out what to use. If the tires on there now are LT tires, load range C, I would try in the 38-40 range. However, without knowing the type and load rating of the tire, I can't give you a good estimate.
What is the tire type, p-series or LT?
What is the load range?
What is the MAX cold listed on the tire?
And what info is on the door sticker for the OE tire?

It's a Continental ContiTrac TR P265/70R17
What is the tire type, p-series or LT? I think it's P series
What is the load range? the code is 113. Max Load is 2535 lbs
What is the MAX cold listed on the tire? 44PSI
And what info is on the door sticker for the OE tire?
Front: P265/70R17SL at 30PSI cold
Rear: P265/70R17SL at 30PSI cold

That does sound like an extra load P-series tire. From the sound of it the pressure on the door sounds like for a regular P series tire.
For these I would try around 35-36 all the way around. Then keep an eye out for wear to make sure you have the correct pressure and getting even wear.
From what I have seen most P series, not extra load, have a max of 35psi.
