Weld wheels filed Chapter 11

Weld wheels filed chapter 11. American Racing is purchasing Weld. It will be interesting to see what happens now. Weld said it was due 40% increase in raw materials, bad investment in the foreign market, and a decrease in sales in the truck/suv market. It is sad news for that company since they have been around here for a long time..

That's too bad, they sell a nice product but I can see why they are in trouble with the prices they charge. Seems like they've almost priced themselves out of the market.

Hopefully AR doesn't mess with the WELD designs, I like em.

The reason they charge them prices is because I think all or almost all of their rims are forged and not cast. Look at any forged rim and you will about sh*t yourself from the price.

I'm not really surprised...they want your first born for EACH wheel, and then, the wheel isn't even that great looking when it is all said and done. For 95% of users a forged wheel isn't needed so it is just a major added cost.

I never liked their decal covered center caps myself...too busy
