I would venture to guess that the wheel you want to run will probably stick
out about an inch or so beyond the fender. It would depend on the wheel
offset (back spacing). If I'm not mistaken, too much negative offset will rub
on the inside of the fender. Too much positive offset will stick the tires out
beyond the fender.
I have 16x8 on my 03 SCrew 4x4 w/ 265/70 16s.
Hope this helps.
Anyone else have more info?

I've been running 16x10's since 2001 with no problems at all.
Yes, you can fit 295/75-16's (34x12.00) or 305/70-16's (33x12.50's) on 16x10's by just trimming a little plastic off your front bumper's valance. I have some pics in my gallary. There are no leveling kits for our trucks because we have torsion bar suspension, which means our ride height is already adjustable by cranking up the preload on the torsion bars.
If you are concerned about width, go with a wide tire, like the 305/70-16s. The only wider tire is the 325/70-16 (34x13.00) Nitto Terra Grappler. If you go to an 18x10 inch wheel, you will have a lot of 325/60-18 (33x13.00) tires to choose from, as that has become a common size for 18 inch wheels.
