Rim and Tire Advise

I recently added a 2.5 spacer lift to my 05 F-150 4x4.. When trying to make the decision on the wheels and tires size there are a ton of questions.

I was thinking about LT325/65R18... Also on the rim size, I want the tires to stick out just a bit, not a ton.. Do you recommend the rim width to be 8 or 9 inches???

Any comments or pics would be a huge help..

Also on tires would LT325/65R18 or LT325/60R18 be a better fit on the wheel well???

Thanks in advance!!

if youre going with a 325/65R18 (35") you need to find a rim with roughly 6" backspacing to get away with only minor rubbing- if you stick out much more, you're going to rub on your fenders left/right... if you want to stick em out a bit, a 325/60R18 (33") would be better as you should be able to clear your fenders on turns...

also, if you are going with a 35" tire you want a wider rim so a 9" wide rim sounds good

I'd go with the 325/60-18's if you are only doing a leveling kit.

Thanks for the advice.. Now that I think about it 35' s are much too big at that size.. BalogUK - I do like that you fit 35's on your stock rims.. Looks good..

Wandell - In another post I asked about wheel offset..what kind of offset would I be looking at 325/60r18?? To get to what I think I want...

Soo many options..

Thanks!!!!

I have 35's now and they would have fit on stock rims if they were A/T tires, but since Mudders the tread was hitting on the control arm. I went with 18x9 rims and some trimming and no rubbing. You can look at pics in my gallery. Hope this helps..

You want an 18x9 wheel with 5 inches of backspacing or a little more.

So the more backspacing, the less the tires will stick out??

what about a 17 by 9'' rim??? I am looking at some American Eagle 186 series and it is 4.625 back spacing and -8mm offset. If I throw some BFG 285/70/17 with no leveling with they rub or stick out too far? Looks like they will stick out a little less than an inch on each side?

A 9 inch wide wheel with 4.6 inches of backspacing will stick out about 2.5 inches farther than the OEM 7.5 inch wheels with 5.5 inches of backspacing. Like I said, I'd find a wheel with at least 5 inches of backspacing.

These Moto's are giving me the option of 4.5 or 6 for backspacing.. I think 6 would be the ticket from your advice.. That should give me the look I want.. Hopefully it won't rub internally.. Should that be a concern??

I agree. I'd go with the one's with 6 inches of backspacing.
