Does computer need adjusting if put on 22" inch wheels?

I bought an 05 STX with 22 inch wheels and auto-trans from my dealer. The wheels were part of a package with a local wheel company. Truck has been driving fine then all of a sudden 13k miles in it starting shifting funny. From 1st to second it was acting as if it was going to stall out. Down shifting was acting funny as well. Took it to a different dealership to look at it because the one I bought it at is to far away from my work.

They said the trucks computer was not recognizing the fact that the stock 17's were replaced with 22's. I thought it was odd that this would start happening 13k miles in but they said it would take a while to adjust. ???? In any event they said they adjusted the computer but it is still happeing.

Does anyone else know if that is true? Does a computer need to be adjusted if you put on 22 inch wheels?

Thank you. (I posted this in transmission as well because I was not sure where it should go.)

you wouldn't need to recalibrate the pcm unless your overall tire/wheel combo increased- i can stay with a 31" stock setup with both a 17 or a 22 rim you see? if you went from 31 to 33 lets say, then yea, your speedo, tach are going to be off until you calibrate to the larger size

Right. It's the height of the tire that matters. What was the OEM tire size and what size are your 22's?

How heavy are those 22" rims? A ton of spun weight could be an issue as well.

I just ordered the 22" HD wheels also.
New wheel tire size is 275-45-22
My Stock wheels are 275-65-18
The weight is the same
Sidewall difference is: -2.17" (-55.00mm)
Overall height difference is: -0.33" (-8.40mm)
Circumference difference is: -1.04" (-26.39mm)

This throws my speed and odometer off buy 1%. Sould I do anything about 1%? Every 3K is really 3030 at the oil change. I put mile on fast as it is only having the truck 8 months and having 14K miles already.
Also If I get a flat in the rear, will the -0.33" height difference hurt my LS rear?
Look at this. http://www.dakota-truck.net/CGI-BIN/TireCalc.cgi
Btw, My 18" oem chrome edition Lariat wheels are in the classifieds now if anyone is interested in them. Tire's are the BFG Rugged trail. They only have 9K miles because I switched out the stock wheels with they shortly after I bought the truck. These where Brand new take offs like the HD's I'm already repalcing these with. Call me nuts.
