9" rim and 12.5" tires? (width)

Is this possible? Will it work??

If not, what tire size would I need?

yeah that'll be fine.....the recommended rim width for most 12.50 tires is 8.5-11...so that falls in that range you will be fine. The issue will be whether or not the tire size you go with will fit without rubbing on your rig. Lots of people run 12.50 on their stock 7.5 inch rims with no major problems.
