ok so moto metal 18x9....wandall please advise...

Moto Metal 951 one piece chrome plated aluminum wheel. +30mm offset and 4 1/2" backspace and a 2" AS leveling kit. will it rub. i know im supposed to be shooting for 5" or more backspace but i cant find anything i like with it. what does the offset -12mm or +30mm have to do with anything? again im a total truck/wheel newbie. thanks

THey should fit with a set of 33 inch tires if you have a 4x4. I believe several members have the 18x9's with the 4 1/2 inches of backspacing. Personally, I'd get the ones with 6.1 inches of backspacing, but it depends on the look you want. I'm just impressed they off the same wheel with two different backspacing/offsets. You may have to do some trimming if you go with the ones with 4.5 inches of backspacing. Also, offset is just another way to measure how far a wheel will tuck/stick out.

I've been looking at the Moto Metal wheels as well. I think they offer 2 versions for out trucks. One with -12mm offset and 4.5" of backspace and the other with +30mm of offset and 6" of backspace. I have seen a listing for one with +30mm of offset and 4.5" of backspace on a dealer website but I think that was a misprint. I can't imagine they offer so many different combinations for each wheel. I guess the only way to know for sure is to call the company. Their website is certainly no help as there is practically no technical data on there.

I know what you mean. I've seen Moto Metals listed at a couple of vendors sites, and they listed two 18x9, 6x135mm bolt pattern wheels with the two different backspacings.

i put the 18x9's with the larger gackspacing (the one that sticks out more/has a deeper dish) and i put the AS2.5 kit on.. i did have to trim the front valence, but it was MINOR.. only like a 1/4 inch max.. and it was just the corner.. u cant even tell it was cut, and it doesnt look diff at all.. but i got the wheels in black.. and either way, chrome or black, the wheels look sick as hell. very happy with them..

and if your lookin at tires too.. i recomend the nitto TG's.. 325/60/18.. since i out them and the leveling kit on, my truck actually rides bette rhten it did before!.. no joke. and its a good tire.

let me know if u need any info, i have been sayin im gunna post pics for a week now, one day this week i will.. for sure

More backspacing means the wheels tuck in more. Less backspacing means they will stick out more.

I have the MM's in the 4.5" They do stick out, but that was what I wanted. I have pics in my gallery with them on 33" and a 2.5" autospring.

wandell - is the +30mm offset wheel with 6.1" of BS more likely to make a larger tire rub on the control arm than the rim with 4.5" of BS? I'm just thinking if the 6.1" BS wheel is tucked in more won't that mean that it will put the tire closer to the control arms?

You are right. That is the problem, finding the perfect compromise between rubbing on the frame, sway bars or ball joints and sticking out to far and rubbing on the fenders and bumpers.

*****. now i am uncertain what to do all over again. i had decided on the 18x9 moto meatal 951's with 6.1" of BS so i wouldn't have to do any trimming and it just hit me now that i am more likely to have rubbing on the control arms if i get that rim. i have an '06 FX4 with a 2" spacer up front. you think i'll be able to fit the 325-60-18 nittos in there without rubbing?
