I was ordering some 285/75r16's today, and the tire shop said they will not mount those on the stock 16" rims because their insurance would not allow it. They said the stock rim was too narrow for that wide of tire, and that i would need at least an 8" wide rim. People mount them on the stock rim, but it will void the warranty of the tire, and I assume insurance would be a real b*tch if something happened, and you didn't have the right tire/rim combo on your truck.
I don't have money for tires AND rims... so i guess its 265's for me...

I think Nitto recommends a slightly wider wheel for that size. Sometimes running a tire on a wheel that is too narrow can cause the center portion of the tire's tread to wear slightly faster than normal, similar to running too much air pressure. Just watch your air pressure (don't go too high) and you should be fine. As for the shop giving you problems, who knows this day and age. I once had a shop tell me it was illegal for them to sell me a H (speed) rated tire for a Trans Am because it came equipped with V rated tires. I assured them since the highest posted speed limits in our country were 70mph I didn't have the need for a tire that would handle 149 mph. And since I wanted H rated tires I would be sure to never travel at speeds greater than 139 mph. The owner looked at me and said "OK" and sold me the H rated tires.

Wandell,
I've been on this site for about a month now and I can see that you're the go to guy so I have some what of a noob question for you. I have a 2007 F150 XLT SuperCrew 2WD. How big can I go with a 6" lift without having to make modifications to the truck itself. If you need more clarification just let me know. Thanks for the help!

Thanks...So all I would have to do is get the lift put on and then tires and there should be nothing else I need? I've read a lot about spacers and levelers and what not so I just want to make sure I would get everything I need. One more question. Whats a good lift to go with? I've looked at RIZE and Pro Comp but I'm not sure which one is better. The truck will be used as a daily driver only so I don't want to spend too much money for something I that I won't get the full potential out of. Once again I appreciate your help!
