Tire size for 2003 F150 4x4 Supercrew

Can anyone tell me whats the biggest tires I can put on my bone stock 03 F150 4x4 Supercrew? I have the stock 265/17's on now but would like to go a little bigger. I'm looking to go as big as I can without having to do any other mods (other than recal the speedo) to make it work.

You can squeeze a 315/70-17 (35x12.50) on there using the OEM wheels. However, I wouldn't recommend it. I'd stick with a 33 inch tire.

wheels and tires question

2002 4x4 fx4 scab: I am looking at getting bigger tires, hopefully this summer. If I get a 17x9 wheel can i fit a 33x12.50 tire on my truck with no modification. Im looking at cepek mud country tires and cepek wheels. I can crank my torsion bars if I need to but I don't want to because I like the factory rake.

Yes, you can fit 33x12.50's on a 4x4 using a 17x9 or 17x10 inch wheel. You may have to trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower valance.

So how would a 295/75/16 fit in the wheel well? Wandell, would you go with a 295/75/16 or 285/75/16 on a 2000 4x4? I know this question has been asked before, but I can't make a decision.

I can't decide which. I want the wells to be filled out nice, but not crammed. They would be going on a stock 4x4, with 16x8 rims, and torsion bars cranked. Thanks alot

Here are 305/70-16's (33x12.5) on a 2001 Screw 4x4, stock suspension.

Personally, I'd go with 33's.

Wandell, I'm assuming you mean the 295s? I've heard people call the 285s a 33" tire, but they come out to less with a tire calculator. Thanks to all for the help.

I still stand by the 305's. 33" tall, and just a bit beefier from the front (12.5 vs 11.5).

Help me out now because I am more than a little confused about tire sizes. Is a 295 or a 305 a 33 inch tire? From wandell's reply I gather a 315 is a 35 inch tire? I am also assuming wandell that a 33 will fit with no mods and no worry's but a 35 may not and would be a little too close for comfort? I am really looking to move up in tire size without any worries about anything rubbing or throwing an otherwise stock truck out of wack. I have very limited knowledge about this stuff and really appreciate everyone's help.

Tire manufacturers always round sizes up to the next whole number. A 285/75-16 is basically a 33x11.50, a 295/75-16 is basically a 34x12.00 and a 315/75-16 (or 315/70-17) is basically a 35x12.50. 315/70-17's are an extremely tight fit on a 97-03 4x4 using the OEM wheels. The smaller sizes will fit pretty easily.

Hey Wandell. Sorry I'm a bit of a tire novice too. So when you said above that you would recommend a 33" tire for my 16x8 wheels which were you refferring to? The 285 or the 295?

I was referring to the 285's, but 295's would work also. 295/75-16's are an odd size and the only one I know of is the BFG AT KO.

So you think the 285s would fill the wells up?Would the 295s be a little too much? I don't want a crammed look, but deffinately want a more beefy tire on there. Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to go wrong.
