Tread life, road noise Nitto AT vs. BFG AT?
New tire time is coming up soon, and I've been doing some research in this forum and on tire websites. Reading some reviews of the tires on Discount Tires website.
BFG 285/70/17s and Nitto 296/70/17 are the two I've settled on. Trying to decide which will last me longest with minimum amount of road noise. Reviews of both tires are all over the chart. Some say Nittos don't last long, while some say they have great life. Same for the BFGs.
If you have either tire, could you give a review of them? Also, where did you purchase the tires from?
I've currently got the OE Goodyear 265s on. 42,000 miles so far. Ready for a little talller tire.
Thanks.

I think alot of people will agree here that the BFG AT's are one of the better tires. Ive had my 285/70/17 for only 10K but there are people on here getting 50K+. Either tire will improve the looks of the truck. I havent noticed road noise with my tires. They are generally pretty quiet. I bought mine from a small independent tire shop for 940$ mounted and balanced. Have you thought about the 305/70/17's. They're just a little bit wider. Either way, if you go with the BFG's you wont be dissapointed. Also, search this forum because alot of people have had the same question and you might find some answers there. Hope it helps..

The road noise on the BFGs isn't noticeable to me, but what is noticeable is the GREATLY improved traction in snow compared to Goodyear AT/S tires. Almost can't even have fun!
Guess i didn't add much usefull info since you weren't comparing the crappy goodyear... oh well.. my vote is for BFGs

ive had my 285/75-16s bf goodrich ko's for a good 35000 miles now. rotate every 6k. excellent in winter which in northern mn can be a treat. wear wise they still have plenty of life left, of course my left foot likes to hold the brake while the right hits the throttle and create smoke alot haha but my experience with bf is great, heard good about nitto but the only bad thing is they wear a little faster then the bf, not extremely quicker but quicker non the less

Nitto
Daryl,
Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with either.
I had Nitto Terra Grappler ATs on my previous ride and loved them. They wore great and were quiet as can be, so I'm sold. I'll have a Nitto on this Ford, but it may be a Mud Grappler for something more aggressive.
The BFGs are doggone good tires too.
I bought mine at The Street Source in Lexington. (You should too, so email me.)
