wheel width

so i stopped by a tire dealer today and decided to ask about getting 315/70/17 on my 17'' stock rims....he told me that the stock rims on my 99 4x4 f150 xlt are only 7.5'' wide....is this gonna make my tires look like a big bubble or wear funny? also, is there any way i can know for sure what width my wheels are just incase he was mistaken? if so what do i do? am i gonna be forced to get wider tires? i mean, if im gonna be spending that much money i want it to look perfect but im kinda short on money so i'd hate to buy new wheels also...im going to be adding a 3'' body lift to my truck after the tires...

These tires do require a 8" min. rim width, but a lot of people have been running them on 7.5" wheels without too many problems. Don't try them on your truck without the body lift.

Yep, they are 7.5 inches wide. Several members here and at FTW have run that combo with no problems. I agree, even though they will fit stock, I wouldn't go that large without a lift.

Question same kind of questions

I have a 2000 F 150 with 16 in rims, and was wondering how wide they were?

If they are the stock wheels, look at the sticker on the door jamb.

The OEM 16 inch wheels are 7 inches wide.
