Wheels and Tires...if the taxman deems it possible

If the taxman says I get a good chunk of change this year, I'm looking to get some 20s for the beast..thinking of a 20x8.5 wheel... what would be the recommended backspacing and offset and tire size for that size wheel?? Truck is a 05 XLT XCrew 4x2??? (pours a fresh cup of coffee for wandell because I sense he is lurking nearby and hopefully the coffee with draw him out) Thanks for any input/opinions/etc!

i previously had a suburban as well as an avalanche and ran 20 x 8.5 eagle wheels with 6" of backspacing. they were nice. now i plan on using those wheels on my 2006 fx4 scab with some mud tires. the 8.5 wide is a little on the slim side for apprx. 34" tire which i want so i would suggest that you go with a 9" wheel in case you ever want to put some muds on..

I'd say around 6 inches of backspaicng. If you don't lower the truck, I'd go with a 285/50-20 to a 305/50-20 tire.

I'd lower the rear with lowering shackles personally.

ironically I was sitting here the other night thinking just that... 2" shackles to drop the rear but still give it that slight truck rake, not the "Oh My God My A$$ is in the air" that the newer trucks seem to have.

I was happy after doing a shackel drop on my '98 and then putting on 20s. Has a slight rake to it but looks much better now compared to having the rear jacked way the hell up like stock.

I would NOT go with the 305's on a 8.5" wheel.

I tried that, and instead of fitting with a flat sidewall and broad appearance, they kinda bowed at the sidewall, and the tire had to turn "in" to meet the narrow wheel.

If you go 305's, I suggest the 10" wide wheel.

I have 285/50/20's on my truck now, they protrude rom the wheel well ever so slightly. Just enough to make it look bad-***.
