Help my brakes...

So heres the story. I went to our local Off Road Park and was off roading with my truck. We were almost done when i had that little urge to hit a mud hole b4 for i left. Everything was good untell the whole left side of my truck fell about a foot and a half deaper into a trench that was unforseen. I pulled the truck out and now it steers hard to the right whenever i brake. It didn't do this before the mud and i thought it was just something in the caliper not allowing it to close. So i presure washed it all of and still no diferance. Does anyone have a clue waht to look for?

Did You check your alignment?????? I should check the whole front suspension first to be sure everything is OK.. If you were Off-roading it is more probable to have suspension problems than brake problems. Sometimes suspension problems do show up when you apply the brakes.

Good Luck

Check your caliper slides. May have a torn boot allowing mud, water and/or grime to get in there seizing the slides. Could also be a seized caliper piston.

so i found out that there was a wheel weight stuck in teh caliper and so i took down to the shop that did the work on my new tires and told them to dig that weight out and rebalance the tire. When i got done it still pulled to the right. Could this have damaged teh caliper or do you think there is a chance that there is still more stuck in there?

Where was this wheel weight wedged? Did they swing the caliper off of the bracket to remove the weight? If not, you need to do so and inspect those slides and check if that piston is seized.

If it is just the slides, you can get new ones with rubber boots from autozone pretty cheap. If the slides are seized bad enough, you'll have to heat them up with a torch to remove. Take the bracket off to do this. A mapp gas.butane,etc..torch you can get anywhere will suffice. Make sure you clean the slide bores out. Use a quality disc brake grease for the new slides. If the piston is seized, you are looking at a new caliper. Good luck to you!
