Best Summer Truck Tire? Need Help

Hi all,

I'm running BFG AT/KO's in the winter, and was thinking of getting a nice highway tire for the summer.

Since I don't go off-road much in the summer, other than pulling our TT, I thought I'd get a nice set for summer put on my second set of rims, and only use my AT/KO's in the winter months (which is when I really need them.

What do you guys suggest for a nice smooth, low resistance tire which would work well for spring / summer / fall?
Little to no off-roading, and mostly used on pavement.

Tire size is 265/70/17.

Like I said, 99% of my summer driving is on pavement, and I do pull a 21 foot Sunline TT for a few weeks in Aug.

Any good recommendations?

Thanks
H

Sorry, I can't think of anything that would be better than the BFG AT KO's.

I was thinking Michelin;'s, I'll take a look at them.

I hate wasting the tread life of my AT/KO's for dry pavement, I'd rather save them for the winter months.

Thanks

I'm in pretty much the same situation except I have the 15" stock aluminum wheels. Would like to put a strictly highway, summer tread on. Something that rides well, quiet and decent wearing. It's a '96 F-150 2WD and I don't carry much more than a dirt bike. Size wise the 235/75 15 is fine with me. Any further thoughts on this?

Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO, pretty much the best year round tire you can buy. If you look on www.tirerack.com you see they rate superior in every catagory. Other than tread depth, they are better than the AT KO in every catagory. I wouldn't worry about the tread depth since they have a better tread wear rating. The icing on the cake is they are $20 cheaper. I would run them year round.

KC-10 FE out...

I've had good luck with Wild Country's line of A/T's, they wear well and are pretty good rain tires if you get much where you are. of course I get good mileage out of every tire cuz I'm really good about rotating, but just another brand to think about.

I have had the revo's and the ko's and by far I prefer the ko's, especially for winter. Ko's also have the 3 ply sidewall. Run them all year.

I like the Michelin LTX M/S as well. I just wish they had them in LT for 265 70 17. Last I checked , all they had were P rated at that size.

The BFG AT KO is at least a 10 year old design. There are several tires that are better than it for pure traction. The rubber is hard which leads to a rough ride on pavement and there are not enough sipes for wet/snow traction. They look great and have an outstanding reputation, but the tire needs updating.

If you got the Michilen LTX M/S, you'd find no reason other than looks to go back to the BFG. It's a better tire for every on-road condition and lasts just as long.

Forget the P-rating. It has a higher load rating than any F-150's GVWR.

IMO they haven't updated their design b/c they don't need to, they are still the best all around A/T tire out there. I have had a few sets of them and others in between, and I am now about to buy another set of BFG's. I always get GREAT mileage (with routine rotation) and I loved everything about them. Not cheap, but I think the extra $ is worth it.
