i just got american racing craters 17x9 with .5 inch back spacing and 285 bfg how far out will they stick compared to stock wheels 17x7.5 with the same tires
The OEM wheel is 7.5 inches wide with 4.5 inches of backspacing. So, the 9 inch wide wheel is 1.5 inches wider but it has 1/2 inch more backspacing. 1.5 inches minus .5 inch equals 1 inch.
I have the same exact rims on my truck, with 33" Terra Grapplers and a 6" Fabtech lift. The tires stick out approximately 1-2 inches, maybe even a little bit more. I did not have to trim...but I do have a lift.
Check my gallery, I have the same wheels. They will stick out 2" over stock. I've had them about 1 1/2 yrs. with no problems, except for the 35's I had on them at first that rubbed.
Keep in mind he has a 2002 not a new truck which has different wheel specs (more backspacing). Also, I doubt you have to trim anything with those wheels.
