New Tires - '03 4x4 advise needed

Hi - I'm very new to this forum but spent about 5 hours reading through it yesterday. I can't believe I didn't find this before.

Anyways, I have an '03 SCrew 4x4. I've had 20's that I've ran for the past two summers that were pretty sweet looking but have decided to sell them and just put a goo AT tire on. I have 265/60/17 right now (stock tire...crap Wrangler RTS) and I'm torn between going with Cooper ATR's or some Revo's. I also may go up to a 285/70/17 for no other reason that looks. I know on paper the height and width aren't that much but it does look nice.

I'm looking for some feedback as far as the tire selection and thoughts on size. The off road driving I do is primarily during hunting season so I don't need something like the Cooper ST's.

Thanks and glad to be here.
Ryan

Well, I had both the tires you mention on an '02 Expedition, and can tell you that the Revos are a MUCH better tire. I put the Coopers on after the Revos and was very disappointed in them. Don't get me wrong, they were a really nice tire, but did not hold a candle to the overall performance of the Revos. Also, the Cooper was much less effective when I got it out in the Mud.

If they'll make the Revo in a 20" by the time I need new tires on my FX4, that's the next tire I will buy (Provided they don't price them like a 20" BFG AT!).

As far as size, I like the look of the 285's better. Not much in true size, but there is an appreciable difference in the look.

Hope that helps a little!!

Good luck on your choice.

thanks for the reply's

I'm going with the 285/70/17 Revo's. Couldn't beat the deal I got. $725 for all 4, mounted, balanced, valve stem's (plus a brake inspection as I'm hearing a strange noise when breaking and I just put all new rotors and pads on).
