Dust Shields???

Does any one have Brake Dust Shields (Kleen Wheels, etc....) on their trucks?

How well do they work and what do they look like up close?

Pros and Cons to using them?

Post pics if you have them please.

Thanks.

Pros: Clean Wheels

Cons: They hold the heat in & put more heat on the brakes
After a few years the black paint comes off
Brake dust builds up on the inside of the wheel

Why not just replace the pads that are causing the dust?

I have just heard the brakes on these trucks create a lot of dust so I was asking.

I will know in a week or two as mine is waiting in the Dearborn Assembly lot to be shipped to the dealership.

Another con: make your $40k vehicle look like a $10k econobox.

Yes, the OEM brake pads yield a lot of dust. Replace the front pads if you feel it is too much.

Many on here could not live with the dust and replaced the pads. I did mine at 11,000 miles. Now have 45,000 on the thruck and pads are working great.

Many of you replaced them with the Carquest "Blue" pads correct? What does a set of those cost?

I used Wagner Thermo Quiets and they were about $45 for front. I later replaced the rears when they were worn, same price, about $45. Many on here are happy with the CarQuest Blues and I think they are in the same price range. I would not hesitate to use either one.
