I know they, BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A's, get a decent rating by many here but they got a below average rating on the ConsumerReports webpage. . . right along side the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S.
Their "rolling resistance" and "cornering" numbers were terrible. Their "braking, emergency handling, snow traction and steering feel" were average.
The Goodyear's are [a lot] worse.
The Nitto Terra Grappler AT's were head-n-shoulders above the rest. The Toyo Open Country A/T's also rated above average.
Before I decided to get new shoes for my truck, I seriously considered put on the BFG's 33's on the OEM's but those rating figures turned me off them.

The rugged terrain and the all-terrain are COMPLETELY different tires. Like others mentioned, the RT tire is a cheap OE tire, but AT is a legendary, long-lasting, and very versatile tire.
