New wheels and tires. Fitment Q

New wheels and tires. Fitment Q
Found the setup I want, just need to know if it will fit.
I have an 06 F150 Supercrew FX4 with a 2" AS. I'm looking at the Pro Comp Xtreme Alloy 1079 17x9 with 6x135mm and 4.5 backspacing. I also like the Maxxis Buckshot Mudders or Maxxis Bighorn in 305/70/17. From what I have read, this is a 34" tire and I rather not have any rubbing issues. Mostly highway driving with occasional offroading. Looks like I can get the wheels and tires for ~$1,200-1,300. Probably use this setup in the winter (hunting season) and the stock setup in the summer.
Wanting the tires to stick out just a tad over stock w/o wheel spacers. Will this combo do that?
Does this sound like a doable combo with my truck?
If so, any pics I can look at with the same type size setup?
Also wondering how much it would throw my speedometer off? Any fixes for that?
TIA

I have read of fitment issues with the 17" wheels on the 06 and halfway through the 05 production, because of the brakes being bigger.
Let me ask this question. Can I still use the stock FX4 wheels and go with a taller tire that will stick out? I believe I understand the backspacing is 4 or 4.5" and the wheels are 7.5 wide.....

Are your FX4 wheels 17 or 18", these are usually 7 1/2" wide with 5 1/2" BS, the 305's would probably have less clearance problem's on the stock wheels. I just put some 315's on 17x8 wheels with 5 1/2" BS and got rid of the rubbing I had on the wider wheels, plus they keep the tires inside the wheelwells.

RRT, I would try the Maxxis 305's on the stock wheels and see how they look. Your speed should be off only 3 to 4 mph and can be corrected at most dealer's, or you can get a programmer that let's you adjust it yourself. If your tires stick out any and you do some offroading say like up at "Ben's Creek" the sides of your truck will pay for it. Rock's and good old Washington Parish red mud!

No, trying to stay away from the wheel spacers.
PawPaw, didn't notice that you lived so close. I looked at the Maxxis website and they don't make the 305 for an 18" wheel. The only size Maxxis tire I can get for the 18" wheels is the stock size (275/65/18) which is why I wanted to get different wheels as well. Looks like I need to look around a little more.

RRT, you can put some 305x65x18 BFG AT's on your stock wheels, or try some 17" wheels and see if they clear your brakes. I had to use 17x8 with 5 1/2"BS to clear the large tires and keep then in the "wells". Yes I'm not too far away, by the way one of my daughter's used to live on Lake Choctaw close to Pine.
