rim question
I have an 07 Black F150 STX, I just put on the 2.5" AS leveling kit.
I want to get some rims, looking at the moto metal 951s, in black.
I havn't really liked black rims on a black truck but for some reason I'm feelin thiese... anyhow.. I did some searching and can't find any clear definitions on how the back spacing / offset all works. I don't want my wheels sticking out far at all, I'd like to keep them tucked in as close to stock as possible.
If anyone would care to explain how backspacing/offset affects this I'd appreciate it, or just let me know. The rims I'm looking at are 17x9 -12 offset with 4.53 in back space.
I'm planning on putting 33's on it, not sure which yet...figured I'd worry about that after I decided on rims.
Anything would be appreciated!
Thanks

Backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel (where it bolts to the hub) to it's rear edge. The more backspacing a wheel has, the more it tucks in, the less backspacing, the more it sticks out. A 9 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing will stick out 2.5 inches farther than your OEM wheels. Some of the Moto Metal wheels are available in two different backspacing. See if the 17's are available with more.

I'm sorry its 12mm offset. My original post says 17x9 -12 offset.
So am I correct though, it would move the wheel in 12 mm? I will check and see if I can find the rims with a larger back space.. even a 12mm off set (if I'm correct) woulnd't tuck them in enough if they are going to stick out 2.5 inches or whatever.
