New here....need help with tires & wheels

Hello to all - I've got a 04 f150 4x4 FX4 with stock 18's and I can pick up some OEM 20" stock wheels for $750 and a possible deal on 305-55-20 Toyo Open Country A/T's for possibly $800........My question is should I take advantage of this deal and how do you think the 20 will look with that Toyo size or get the BFG A/T"s (305-65-18)for about the same money.

Thanks,
Mike

My opinion, stick with the 18's I like the look of more rubber and less rim on a 4x4. Everyone seems to want 20+ inch rims. If its on a street truck, 20's looks good. A 4x4 was meant to show some meat in the fenders. That's what I think....go for the look you prefer, I'm just submitting my opinion
Welcome to the site and Good luck!

Personally, I like at least a 35 inch tire with 20's. I'd stick with the 18's.

Your truck looks awesome, I'd love to copy your set up but I'm guessing your well over 2k for your set up....I definetly agree with what your saying, but something just doesn't look right to me with my FX4 18's. I had a 03 150 crew with 285-70-17's and they looked great, but I just can't put my finger on what bothers me with my 18's......crazy right!!!!

I would like to see some pics with both set up with bigger tires.

It's nice to be able to bounce some ideas of you all!

Thanks

OK - so after a long night of looking at pictures, I'm going with the stock 18's - now what size tire? I'll probably install the 2.5"AS . I'd like the 35" BFG AT but what does a 35" equate to(is it a 325-65-18??)

Thanks,
Mike

A 325/65-18 is basically a 35x13.00 tire. That is a little too wide for a OEM 18x7.5 inch wheel. BFG now makes a 305/65-18 that is basically a 34x12.50 tire. I'd go with that size.

Thanks Wandell - I talked to a local tire shop and he said only the BFG Mud's are available in a 35-12.5-18 . I really wanted the BFG AT"s but they don't make it in that size. He suggested the Cooper Stt and said it was a nice tire.

Has anybody used these and are they noisy? If they are decent, I'll order them tomm.

Thanks
