Wanting to get new Tires for 1997 F150 reg cab 4x4

Hello I'm new here, and I love this site.

I will need to replace my F150 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires. P255 70r16. Now I have heard a lot of bad things about the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires, What do the users think of the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires??

I was thinking of replacing them with the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S. Has anyone heard good or bad about these tires? So of the reviews I seen have been good.....

Thank you in advance.

PCE

If i were you i would get a larger more mean looking tire for your 4x4. I would look at getting an A/T such as bfg/nitto. both great tires! i would also look at getting a size 285-70-17 or 285-75-16. That would feel your wheel wells nicely giving you a great 4x4 look! I dont know much about the tires your talking about so im not going to give false information lol

Judging by the size of the tire you posted, I'm guessing you've got a 2wd. The biggest size you can fit on a 2wd is 265/75/16. I had a set of Bridgestone Dueller A/T REVOs in that size on my 1999 F-150 and I LOVED them. In fact, as soon as the BFG A/T KO's on my F-250 get worn out, they'll be replaced with a set of REVOs.

Yep its a 4x4 alright, I will look into the BFgoodrich tires also. And sort of compare. Not sure if I want to go much bigger, since this is the only vehicle, I own. Trying to save a little $$$$ on gas.....

Here is a pic, I just got this truck about 5 months ago....and I love it!!!!! F150's rock!!!!!!

a 285 should not effect your gas millage much at all. also your truck looks in great condition! very classy look!

The Goodyear Wrangler RT/S is a pretty bad tire. I'd suggest looking at some 285/75-16 BFG AT KO's, Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo AT's.

Ya, agreed ^, the rt/s' are kinda mom's explorerish, fine for them, but the trucks? I've always had the AT/S' and loved them. The other selections are good too, always heard good but I've only ever had the goodyears.

These are awesome - there 265's - they made a very big difference in the ride and so far are great - I have about 10,000 miles on them now - there Goodyear Fortera's , when I purchased them they were #1 at the tire rack , that's why I bought these , the duelers were right below in the ratings , that was the tire I was going to get ..

After a good while I decided to get a set of 285/75/16 BFG All Terrains and I couldnt be happier with the tires. They are a great all around tire and look mean for an AT. I would reccomend this size for your truck, looks good without over-stuffing the wells. Good luck. Pic in my sig .
