Black/Knight Chrome Pro Comps & Care

So I went all ga-ga looking at the Pro Comp 9001 Knight Finish wheels in 18x9.5, but does anyone know how tough the finish is? I've read both that it scratches super easy to it being a powder coat (which should be very durable. My biggest concern is how they would hold up in winter. My wife ( and yes, her vote counts) won't sign off on paying a grand on something we only have on the truck a couple of months out of the year. We obviously get snow here and the city uses Mag-Chloride (PIA on everything). If it comes down to just hosing off the wheels when I drive the truck through snow, no biggie. If it is taking them off and storing them or wiping them down only using baby diapers then it's a no go.

So, any experience or suggestions? Thank in advance

Here's the wheel.

I have the same problem in IA and I have gone around and around for months now trying to figure out what to do. I want some nice chrome or polished wheels but I am affraid of the salt and sand ruining them. I thought about black but they will probably get scratched. I see there are a lot of choices in machined now but I don't know how they will be either. I am like you too in that I don't want to spend a grand on wheels I only use half the year. Curious on the answer to your question too.

OK, if no one is real familiar with the black chrome, how about you fine people in the snow belt with chrome wheels? What's your regimen for keeping them up? Is it possible, too much effort, should I look at aluminum instead of chrome...? Thanks in advance.

do a search in this (or the aftermarket) forum. there was just a lengthy discussion about the knight chrome finish and upkeep.

I saw that and they couldn't determine if it was actually a chroming process or powder coating. If it is powder coating, it should hold up at leas as well as a painted wheel, if not better due to the paint being bonded to the metal. One of the posters claimed it would get scratched by a rag at a car wash though. All in all not very informative. Hence my question if someone has owned them and what have they noticed and had to endure for the upkeep.
