Which "E" rated load range tire is best?

I bought a used 3/4 ton several months ago and it needs new tires in the worst way.

I'm wanting to stick with LT265/70R17 E load rating tires. It has Michelin LTX A/S right now and I will probably go back with the Michelins or Firestone Transforce HT.

Of those two which would be the better choice for a 2x4 that sees almost all highway use but occasionally gets caught in a wet pasture?

If anyone has recommendations for other 10 ply rated tires I'm open for suggestions but would prefer to stick with a highway tread for the sake of low noise.

I don't know what part of the country you hail from, or what is best for you but look at Bridgstone revos LT.

Take a look at www.tirerack.com for that size. Depending upon what type of tread pattern you are looking for, the top rated for that size is a Pirelli Scorpion ATR followed by the Goodyear Silent Armor. I believe both of those have LR E tires. Others are also rated fairly high, including the Bridgestones.

Note - the list I looked at was for AT tires. If you pick highway tires it looks like the Fortera triple tread is rated highest. The Michelin is not rated well. The Firestone I believe is above average, but not at the top. Unfortunately searching by size is just that. size. It does not show load range until you look in detail.

I just bought a set of Pirelli Scorpion RTS-A tires today. They are a solid 10 ply tire that is more suited for for highway than off-road. I took them out on a sand road just after I bought them to see how they would do and they perform just as I was promissed. They have an A traction rating and H speed rated. I'm happy with my choice, and for $125.00 per tire, mounted and balanced, I did well!
