Red face Blowout: New Tires

I have a Stock F150 Screw with the Stock General 17" Tires on it. Driving home over the past weekend and Blew the Sidewall out completely. After looking around here I am looking at replacing the set. I have been looking around and found some online I like after talking with some buddies. Any help or suggestions would be awesome.

One thing is for sure the Generals that came with it just plain S**K

Here is what I am looking at:

18x8.5 Granite Alloy GA5 Machined w/Flat Black Accent
275/65TR18 BFGoodrich Rugged Trail T/A Blackwall

I put a picture of the Blowout in my Gallery. I wanted to know if people have seen that kind of seperation before?

Are you wanting an AT tire? If so go with BFG AT, Nitto terra grappler or toyo at. They are good tires. Is your truck a 4x4 or 4x2? Are you wanting to go up in size any?

I would like to go up to the 18's from the stock 17. As far as the Tire goes I need something that is all around. Its my daily driver so it sees plenty of pavement but I live in the Pacific NorthWest and do plenty of towing and off road driving. I wouldnt say I go "mudding" but plenty of off the beaten trail kind of stuff.

I recommend the BFG AT, Toyo AT or the Nitto Terra Grappler in that order.

I agree. I'd also consider the **** Cepek Radial FC II, Pro Comp Xtreme AT and Mickey Thompson ATZ.

Hello! I'm in the market for a 2007 closeout. I drove one today (XLT 4x4) and it had "upgrade" General AT tires. I thought they rode rough. I could tell it was the tires and it's about the only thing I didn't like about the truck. Is this typical (crappy tires)?

Sorry, but yes. Most new trucks come with crappy tires. Just about anything would be an upgrade over the oem Generals. Maybe you can negotiate a new set of BFG AT KO's, Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo AT's in with the deal.
