Nitto Terra Grapplers

Hey i am looking at getting new tires. The decision was between BFG All-Terrain T/A, Nitto Terra Grapplers, or Toyo Open Country A/T. I think i am going to get the Nittos because of what i have heard about them and the price is right. Right now i have the Lariat 18" wheels on my 04 Reg. Cab 4x2. I am going to be installing a 2.5 autospring. My question is will the 285/60R18 Nitto be enough tire in the wheel well. Its a 31.5" tire. I dont really wanna spring the extra $140 for 1 more inch of tire unless completely nessicary (28565R18-32.5"). Just to through a twist in the decision i might be getting some black helo maxx6's if a deal works out. Tell me what you think about the tire sizes please.

Also i have the 265/60R18 BFG Long Trails on my truck now and get around 18.5-19 mpg. How much can i expect my milage to drop with the new bigger tire? Does the drop constitute for me getting an edge programmer for added power and mpg's?

Thanks in advance,
Trent Kammerer

Trent I would have to say that after buying the Nittos only yesterday, WOW. I love the tire. I got the 305/50/20's and they look and feel awsome. I have used the Revo's and BFG's and these for only a day have blown'em out of the water. I have not noticed much change in mileage, but its just tenths more dia than my stockers.

All of those are excellent tires and I think either size will look fine.

Would 325/60R18's even fit on a 4x2 with a 2.5 lift?

Anyone else have problems w/ treadwear w/ the Nitto TG's?? I've had mine on for a little less than 2 years and it's getting close to time for new ones. Kept them rotated, etc, and maybe put 25,000 miles on them.

Yes they will, there is someone on this site with my same truck in 2 wheel drive. I love my set up. I have 5k miles on mine and they still look new.

I'd vote for the 285/65R18. When I was buying my BFG's I had them test fit the 285/60 vs the 285/65, night and day to my eyes.

Is it worth $100 or so a tire?? Just curious. I am wondering the same thing as the first post.

To each their own, but I didn't find it worth the while to go with the smaller ones. I was already paying the money, wanted the larger tires and took the plunge. Although I was waivering on the Terra Grapplers in the same size, that was my hardest decision. Check out prices online though. I have seen some places like Rim Zone on eBay that have the 285/65R18 Nittos for like $800.

I have pics in my gallery, I will take some better ones since I put blocks in the back and finally got my stance where I want it.

careful with Rim Zone, I called on a set of Toyo Open Country A/T's and got a price of $1036 (305/55/20) called back a few days later to order and guess what, "we gave you the wrong price, they are $1275" needless to say I took my business someplace else. Be careful with these onlines stores, especially the ones on ebay.

I remember reading your other post on that. Definately something to keep in mind. I will let it be known that I purchased most of my mods through good old fashioned brick and mortar shops, and have no experience with Rim Zone other than what I saw online. Personally I like Discount tire, but if you are on a tight budget and are more daring than I, ebay is an option.

It may have been an honest mistake, the guy may have given you a price for 305/50/20's on accident. That's about the price difference between the two.
