Wheels For My '06 Skrew

So I finally got the 2" AS installed and am loving my truck. I guess the next step is either wheels or exhaust.

My tires are new BFG 285/70/17's. Is there wheel that I could put on there now with these same tires that I could also fit a slightly larger tire on later? Would the BFG 315/70/17 even fit on my truck now?

What wheel size/backspacing is recommended? I'd like to bring the tires out of the wheel wells a tiny bit to give it a little beefier look. But I definitely don't want any rubbing.

I would like the wheels to be something a little more traditional, simple and clean looking. I was thinking of something along these lines...

Here's a pic of my truck now...

Any suggestions??
Thanks!!

Here we go. Gear_Slammer has the setup that I really like... and he's got the same tires.

Who sells AE in Houston?? These are series 186 wheels... but what size and spacing would I want?

I'd suggest a 17x9 inch wheel with 5 or 5.5 inches of backspacing.

The eagle alloy 187's are what i have and they are the same as a 186 except they have a beadlock appearance.

Wandell, you'll have to forgive me, I don't know as much as I should. On AE's site, it looks like there are 2 options for 17x9 wheels with 6 lugs in the 186 Series.

1864-8966 17x9 6 on 5.5 - Acorn - Offset -8 mm - BSM 4.625

1864-8994 17x9 6 on 135mm - Acorn - Offset -8 mm - BSM 4.625

Here's the link to the page...

http://www.aewheel.com/eagle_alloy_wheels.cfm?id=259

Which one will work for me? How much more will these stick out than my stock setup? I don't want it to come out too far.

Also, will 315/70/17's fit on the same wheels if I wanted to go a little bigger down the road? Will that setup even fit on my truck without rubbing? If not I'm happy with the 285's, but I'm curious.

Thanks for your help.

Those wheels are for two differenct trucks. Your bolt pattern is 6x135mm, the ones with the 6x5.5 inch bolt pattern won't fit. You can fit a 315/70-17 tire on that wheel easily, but that combo won't fit your truck without more lift. You could add a body lift down the road and fit the 315/70-17's using those wheels.

Ok... I get it. So this wheel...

1864-8994 17x9 6 on 135mm - Acorn - Offset -8 mm - BSM 4.625

...is what I'd have to go with if I wanted to get the Eagles. If I'm understanding this right, it has 4.625 inches of backspacing with -8mm offset. How different is that from stock? How much will these wheels stick out over stock?

Thanks for your help.

THe OEM wheels are 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing. So, those will stick out about 2.5 inches farther than the OEM wheels.

So, if someone made a similar wheel that was 9" wide with 5.5" of backspacing... then the wheel would only stick out about 1.5" over stock, right?

I'm afraid 2.5" is too much and I'll wind up with my tires rubbing at full lock... or I'll be throwing all kinds of debris up on my fenders. Or maybe 2.5" is perfect?? What do you think?

You are correct. Personally, I'd rather have the 9 inch wide wheels with 5.5 inches of bs.

Wandell, I think I found the wheels I want. I was pretty set on a classic, clean style wheel, but I wasn't sure about the 4.5" BS on the Eagles. I hunted around some more for similar style wheels, but they all had around 4.5" of backspacing. Then I dicovered the Mickey Thompson Classic Lock 17x9 6-135mm 5.5" BS +12 Offset P/N479462.

Whatdya think of these wheels? Will they work? They should only stick out about 1.5" further than stock, right? These are 200 bucks a pop at 4wheelparts.com. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

yep, you are right! and those are sweet rims, would look great on your truck!

the bs is the same, tires are the same, all that is changing is the width of the rims, from 7.5 to 9 so 1.5''
