question for Wandel

If I let all the Air pressure out of my old tires (crappy generals) would it be safe to cut the tires of the rims. I'm trying to avoid $50 removal fee from all the local car dealers and tire shops. I have a Milkwakee saw all the would do the trick.

Try it on one. You will gladly pay after that.

The sawzall wouldn't get close enough to the bead so that won't work. You'll need a cut off tool.

When I was in the Marines and we had to bust a tire out in the boonies we put the wheel/tire flat on the ground and ran over the tire (but not the wheel!) with another vehicle. Then flipped it & did the other side. Came off every time.

I wouldn't do it. Shop around a little. Just about everyone in my area charges $10 inch remove an old tire, install a new one and balance it.

Hey, I did see this done before. It was on Dirty Jobs with Mike Row on the Discovery Channel last fall.
