Converting tire sizes

How do you convert a size like 295/70-17 into (34x12.00) ???

Thanks! Looking to outfit my 05 Screw with wider tires on a stock wheel without looking like a balloon! Don't want to screw with the speedometer either really. Thoughts on sizes??

There are a couple of tire size conversion calculators out there. The best method is to look at the tire manufacturer's website and get the exact sizes.
