Today when I started my truck I got the message to "check guages". The truck was running and all the guages and lights were OK. I shut it off and restarted. It started hard but the message went away. Ever since the truck has run somewhat rough but the major issue is a very hard brake pedal and limited braking power. I limped home. All fluids and belts look OK... anybody have any ideas? TIA

 

Same symptoms happened when my fuel pump went out on my S10.

Brake petal was extremely hard to push and the truck wouldn't turn over.

I'd take a look at your fuel filter too.
