Best Tire

Hey,

I was just wondering what people are riding on for tires. I have a stock 2006 FX4 with 18s. I am not planning any ride height alterations for a while, but i dont mind a slightly higher stance due to tires. I just put a big hole in my rear tire (three plugs in the hole right now). So Im going to get a full set of tires. I was just wondering what tires are recommended out there. Also not trying to spend an arm and a leg, but I dont want cheaps either. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Depends on what type u want. Do u want a off road tire or do u do only on road or what. There are all terrains, highway, etc. I have Michelin LTX all season highway tires. They are not cheap but will last up to 80k. Basically two sets of tire in one.

I'd suggest the BFG AT KO's, Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo AT's.

Depending if he wants a all terrain or mud terrain, his best choices are listed.

I've got an 04 FX4 and am also in the market for tires. I'm going with an AS level kit and plan to go slighly bigger with the Toyo Open County AT in a 275/70/18 (33x11x18).

Thanks

Thanks everyone. I am probably going to look at all terrain. My truck is my daily driver, so im not offroad too much. Most of my driving is pavement or unfortunately that crap they call gravel. I do like the option of going off road every now and then though. THats what 4 wheel drive is made for right.

Also, how big can I go without needing to do any truck mods? Dont mind spending a little extra money for a bigger stance.

if it were me I would install a leveling kit, and some 35's. I love the 35's on a leveled truck with stock rims! However, if you don't want to do that I would suggest a 285.....or you might be able to fit a 305 without any mods, but the leveling kit is never a bad idea it really makes the truck look bigger without spending a lot of money.

If I were to go with a leveling kit what brand should I use. I was looking at autoanything.com and found a few. the Readylift Strut Extension Leveling Kit-3" for $230 or the Trailmaster Front Coil Spring Leveling Kit for 159?

Go to Ebay and search for "Auto Sping F150." Thats the kit that most go with. You can get either 2 or 2.5" for $90 shipped, and the install is pretty easy.

If I go with these springs 2 things. 1 - Can they be installed without the help of a pro mechanic. 2 - what size tires can fit without rubbing. The web site says 33-35. I wouldnt mind putting on 35's but what dimensions am I looking for.

Also Id like to stay with stock rims for now.
