Lug nut ?'s

I have a set of 16 inch alloy rims that came with my 98 f150 and the lug nuts to match them. I recently purchased a set of FX4 rims to put on m truck and as i was doing so i noticed that the flange where the nut sits has a slight bevel as if an acorn nut is supposed to go there and the hole looks a bit bigger than my other rims. Did ford have two different lug nuts or a sleeve that is supposed to go in there? The guy i bought them from took them off his truck when he upgraded and he didn't have the lug nuts for them.

Ya there was 2 dif studs for the lug nuts i think.
I think those FX4 rims were 14mm X 2.00 or something?I can't remember exactly Cheack to see what size studs you have on your truck.

I think there 12*1.75. Does that sound right??? If that is the case would i have to change the lugs out to the larger or get some sort of sleeve?

The early trucks (97-99?) have 12mm studs. The newer ones (00-03) have 14mm studs. You need to use lugnuts for a 1998 truck.

But then there is slack in the area between the rim and the stud. I would think that it slides around. Can i change teh studs on my truck to match the rims?

The oem wheels are hubcentric. They are centered on the hub by the wheel fitting on the "lip" on the hub unlike most aftermarket wheels which are lugcentric and depend on the lugs to center the wheel.
However, you can have 14mm studs installed.
