backspacing and offset question..

Alright, I currently have a 05 F150 FX4 on the stock 18" rims/tires with a 2.5" autospring lift.

I've decided to go with the following wheels/tires:

325/60R18 Mickey thompson baja claw radials

18x9 Moto metal 951 chrome rims

I'm just not sure what bs and offset I need to get so I don't rub.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron

I would stick to a wheel between 5 and 6 inches of bs, depending on how far you want the tire/wheel to stick out. I believe the MM's are available in 5.1, 5.7 and 6 inches of bs.

I think I have seen them in 4.5 inches of backspacing also. Hey Wandell, could you do me a favor and go to 4wheelparts if you have a spare moment, and go to the MM 951's 6X135 18's and look at the backspacing/offsets that they have listed? They confused the crap out of me. I think they may have them mixed up or misprinted. Or maybe I am just confused ----- I don't know! I am wanting the rim with the closest to 5 backspacing I can, get but I figured that would be close to a 0 for offset. Anyways Thanx

Which one would stick out more. I thought that the lower the backspacing was, the lower the offset should be. I think that a 5 for backspacing=0 offset for this width rim but this shows otherwise. Whats up with that!

Lower backspacing will stick out more.

4.5 backspacing is a negative offset
5 backspacing is a 0 offset
6 backspacing is around 30 offset

so higher backspacing = higher offset!

Mind you this is only on a 9" wide wheel. When wheel width changes, offset does too, even if backspacing does not.

Yeah didn't make that clear, but one thing remains the same no matter what the width of the rim, Higher offset=Higher backspacing. And also what is up with 4wheelparts number's!!!
