37s or 38s
ok well when i get my new truck in a yr i am getting an 04+ FX4 most likely a subercab unless a get a better deal on a screw. now ive decided on the 8" rize, but am still undecided on tires. either 38x15.50R20 Toyo OPen country MTs or 37x13.50R18 Nitto Mud Grapplers. Could i fit the 38s on there w/ a 2.5 leveling kit? i want flex cuz ill be wheeling this thing. i love the look of the Mud Grapplers, but hows the trad life...how much louder would they be than my Maxxis Bighorns (my maxxis have some hum).

It's going to depend on your wheel. I had some rubbing with 37x13.50R20 Nitto Mud Grapplers on 20x10s with 4.5" backspacing. Trimming took care of most of it but it still rubbed. I'm just not so sure about the width of the 38s but you should be able to clear them with some trimming. They do make a 38x13.50R20 in the Toyos too.

how are your mud grapplers on the road.. i hear they like to sing. if you could do it over again would you get the toyos or the nittos? and if i get the 38s, i would prefer to get the ones that are 15.5" wide. i will also be getting either bilstein or king coilovers..dont know much about either, i know kings are the best. if i crank em up it should help clear the 38s..i just dont want the dollar bill on dimes look.

The Mud Grapplers are fine around town, long trips they annoy the hell out of me. I'm going with the Toyo Open Country M/Ts next time around but if you don't do a lot of long trips than get the Mud Grapplers. I've got almost 20,000 miles on mine and plenty of tread left. Just rotate every 3,000 miles and keep your tires properly inflated and they'll last. 38s and 37s are going isn't going to be much of a difference, the width is fine to me. I think it'd look goofy with the 15.50s. Not to mention if you're going to be wheeling than it's going to be a lot more wear and tear on those ball joints etc.
PS: The Kings are $1550.
