I would check out the super swamper SSR's too. These are great tires for on road, and excellent off road. Its basically a TSL that is radial, and siped.

Who in the off-road community considers Mud grapps crap? I go competition wheeling quite a bit and there are a lot of rigs out there with $50k put into them, running the mud grapps. The street Grapp (the ones most of yall own) are NOT GREAT off-road but they are more than decent. Nitto also makes a Competition ONLY Mud Grappler which blows most mudders out of the water. When aired down it will grip rocks with the best of em! So where are you hearing Nitto's M/T are crap? And why? (honestly would like to know)

The truck in my sig is in a showroom. The Mud Grapplers simply look cool. They don't race on 'em.

Look at any Jeep forum, Pirate4x4, or 4wheeling forum. A lot of guys are disappointed in them (regular MG's). Heck, I would be too for spending that much money on an average performing offroad tire. Also, there are those guys that spend over a grand on tires and because of their pride (not wanting to look like a fool) say they perform great.

Competition Mud Grapplers are similar to the BFG Krawlers (awesome tires for rockcrawling!). You can't compare the BFG Krawler to the BFG M/T, just like you can't compare the Radial Mud Grappler to the Competition Mud Grappler. The Krawlers and "CMG's" are awesome tires in rockcrawler competitions, but **** on the road. However, we're talking about the "regular" Mud Grapplers here. They do pretty well on rocks, but they're DEFINATELY NOTHING to brag about in mud, which is what the regular poster was wanting to know. Their mudding performance is similar to the Wrangler MT/R's...

"OK, but there's a lot better out there."

I still stand by the Super Swamper TSL Radials as the best radial M/T for mudding.

MudTerrain, i appreciate the input, i am always up for learning something, especially in this quickly changing world of off-road (sure does seem to have taken off lately). I would agree they are over priced for what you get (hence I don't own them... but they do LOOK good). And I have seent hese perform pretty good at places like the Rubicon but I have not really seen how they do in mud. Good to know!

MudTerrain...

I agree with you that they are not the BEST tire out there, but I have put the tires thru some pretty nasty stuff, and it almost felt unfair because they were performing so well. They handle awesome on pavement. And if were talkin money here, I bought 35/12.50/20's for $210 otd a piece, brand new, thats the sole reason I ended up with these tires over my original decision to buy Mickey Thompson MTZ's.

Mudterrain knows what he's talking about...I'm an ex jeeper myself and have spent too many hours on pirate 4x4 and it literally common knowledge that the TSL's are the way to go.

However because I care about mileage and looks I run Toyo's, on my TJ I had Pro-comp M/T's and envied everyone with TSL, they would run through anything. You might want to consider getting some beadlocks too.

Alot of people give MGs alot of crap and no respect. Yeah there loud, some people like that. Everybody says milage sucks, this isnt a All Terrain..Everybody I personally have seen with these tires have got very decent amount of miles out them, and on heavier trucks such as F250s and so on. All these other tires mentioned are very nice, I even almost bought the Toyo's instead of grapplers, but for what the Grappler is and is designed to do, it cant be beat, looks and performance.

I liked the grapplers, I liked em much better than the Toyos because of how they performed in the mud, but they don't make a size big enough for me, plus they are very expensive.
