So... you might be a "yuppie" if...

...you just want a road tire that is quieter and smoother on the road than stock and that has good mileage and a little more attitude than stock.

My '08 2WD screw has BFG LongTrail T/A's size P265/60R18s. This truck runs a lot of highway miles daily. Also, it tows (at most) a 5,000 lb travel trailer on the road and does some pasture and gravel roads every so often, but that's about it. It isn't gonna see any mud anytime soon...

So are the stock BFG T/A's the smoothest, quietest road tire out there with enough sidewall strength to also haul the trailer? Or has anyone switched recently with an 04 or greater Screw and gotten better ride, handling and MPG? I'm hoping you guys have "been here and done this" already so thanks for any experience you've had and suggestions!

I like these tires. Quiet is what I want. I hate tires singing.

I'd suggest the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo.

I'm getting new (bigger) tires for mostly for looks, but I have been pretty happy with the BFG Rugged Trails that came stock on my '04. At 28,000 miles I would say they are wearing well, have at least another 10k in them, maybe 15-20k. They are not noisy, and have handled some winter driving, and beach driving pretty well.

I put the Long Trails on my wife's old 4Runner, and they were great. IMHO, I think you've got a good tire for your target purpose. It would probably be a waste of $$ to make a change.

If you're looking for "more attitude," the BFG All-Terrain T/AŽ KO's are still not too noisy, ride decent, wear extremely well, and handle snow, etc. to boot. (Had a set on my old 4WD Ranger that gave up it's spot in the drive for the F150.) Probably more aggressive than what you need, though.

I got 61K out of a set. highway of course.

they are the best tire imo, no noise, nice tread, awesome in snow.
