How bad will 305-55-20 BGF AT's Rub

Hey guys,

I got a chance to pick up some BFG's 305-55-20's. How will they look on OEM 20's ?

Can I just put them on without a leveling kit, and if I need one, which size for a "level" look with my set up?

Thanks,
Mike

THey will fit easily if you have a 4x4. If you have a 4x2, you may need the leveling kit for clearance. I'd go with a 2 or 2.5 inch Autospring kit.

I have the same size on stock 20's on my 07 4x4, they rub the control arm at full lock, its minor though. Its the width that causes the rub not the height. My truck is stock height and there are no issues with the diameter of the tire. A leveling kit will not correct this minor rubbing issue, 2 or 4 wheel drive. Good luck.

It's a 4x4 - I just picked up the tires so I'll put them on Friday - Craigslist....brand new.....$600......I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't just pick them up!!!

Raptor - do they clear the corners or did you have to trim?

Thanks

Its not even close to rubbing the fender, inner plastic, or lower valance. The offset of the stock 20's just tuck them in a little too far, hence the minor control arm rub.

Do you mean what offset on a 8.5 inch wide wheel? I'd stay close to the OEM wheel's 5.5 inches of backspacing.

Yes, they will rub even with a 2" leveling if you are using the factory 20's. A leveling kit does not change the position of the control arm. Its a combination of the width and the offset of the factory 20 that causes the rub. If you use a rim with a different offset than the stock 20 then they wouldnt rub but with the OEM 20 they will.

Raptor2 - Are there any aftermarket wheels spacers that you could use to stop 305/55/20s from rubbing with the oem 20s and a 2 in leveling kit? I have the oem 20s with the stock pirellis and also want to upgrade to 305/55/20s nitto terra grapplers.

When I first put the tires on I installed a 1/4 spacer which took care of the rub all together, but, the shop could not get a terrible shake out of the steering wheel. When I got up to 40 mph the wheel was about to shake out of my hands. They worked on it all day long and could never get it right. I told them to take the spacers off and after that it was smooth as silk at 75 mph. I wasnt crazy about using a spacer on my $40,000 truck anyway but I really wanted the tires on my truck so I was willing to try. When I say they rub at full lock it is so minor that it is not an issue at all. I can back the steering wheel off a 1/4" and the rub is gone. It does not cause any problems what so ever. As far as the leveling kit goes, the kit will not change the position of the control arm so it will not correct the rub. Its the offset of the OEM 20's, they are tucked in just a hair too much for the width of the 305's
