98 F150 Rear Brake Line Leak
98 F150 4.6 2wd w/ rear antilock. 190,000 miles
About 4 months ago, the rear steel line form the T-Block to the pass rear wheel was leaking due to a crack in the flare of the steel line. I replaced that line along with the flex line/T-block from the front-parts from Ford parts house.
It's leaking again-from the flare. Haven't removed it yet to inspect. Picking up new lines today.
Anyone else have this problem-with steel line flares cracking

Is it safe to use teflon tape on these fittings? I thought that it was not recommended due to the fact that pieces of the tape could come loose and cause problems in the master cyl. or other brake lines. Anyone know anything about this? It would be nice to know.
Also a flared nut wrench is needed to prevent stripping off the nuts on the flared fittings.

I have not had any troubles with using the teflon tape. I could see why people would say it might come off, but, if you watch what your doing with it, it will be ok. I don't advise letting it get any lower than the last thread on the fitting and make sure you don't put the tape on backwards.
