New tires without new wheels

I drive a 2005 F-150, supercrew, 4x2. I need to replace the Continental Tires that came with the truck (which I think suck). I'd like something with a little bigger appearance in the wheel well, but I don't want/need to go through the expense of providing bigger wheels at this time. What might you recommend as a replacement? I've heard good things about BFG A/T KOs. Recently I've also seen good reviews for Nitto Terra Grappler and some of the Cooper Tires (but I think they were more expensive). Ideally, I'd like to stay around $150 per tire (uninstalled). Additionally, the tires I have on my truck now are 255/65-17, what other sizes could I install without having to change wheels?

Thanks in advance.

the best upsize for a stock 4x2 is a 265/70/17. Will feel the wheel wells up nicely. There are a LOT of tire options as this is a really popular size.

BFG A/T KOs are a great tire. you can easily get 50,000 miles out of them

I agree. I'd go with a set of 265/70-17 BFG AT KO's, Nitto's or Toyo's.
