Hey guys, I'm getting ready to upgrade my brakes and wanted feedback on the following setups. I'm looking for better performance, a lot less brake dusting, little or no noise, and durability. Thanks in advance!

Setup 1:

Power Slot Cryo Rotors
Hawk LTS Pads
Goodridge G-Stop Stainless Steel Brake Lines

or Setup 2:

SSBC Short Stop Upgrade - includes slotted rotors and pads
Goodridge G-Stop Brake Lines

Also might go with the SSBC TriForce Aluminum 3-Caliper Front Brake upgrade- includes new 3 piston calipers, slotted rotors and pads for the front only.

 

Setup #1

I just ordered my Powerlsot Cryo rotors yesterday. I'll be using Car Quest Blue pads along with new brake cables.

 

I'm in the market myself to upgrade my brakes.....
I have been looking at Baer's setup-
Its a 15in 2 piece rotor and utilizes the stock calipers. Front and Rear.

I just don't know if it will clear the factory wheels for the winter......I know it will clear the aftermarket setup.

Forget Baer they make crap. I know, I have them. Can't vouch for them, but I heard Wilwood is pretty good.

 

Well markou1, I'm not really looking into going with a bigger disc, but if you are then I would suggest that you also look into the Gran Turismo Big Brake Kit by Brembo - however they are somewhere in the $4,000 range.

I don't need all of that - just trying to find out which of the 2 setups I posted have people had the best experiences with.

 

Your looking for the GOD MODE of breaks.

I believe MeanGene had the Baer EradiSpeed complete setup. He tried several times with fitment, but it was never to specs. Use the search feature. He posted a long thread about how bad their customer service was, etc... Especially for what that brake system costs.

I've had my Baer Eradispeeds, Hawk LTS, and Russell SS stainless steel brakelines for almost 6000 miles. No problems (except a **** load of brake dust from the Hawk LTS pads).

 

To make a long story short. Our F150's are very sensitive with regards to anything that is slightly out of whack. Usually providing a steering wheel nibble. See sig line. If your front discs are not within .005 of being round you may or may not feel a vibration in the front end. Baer Eradispeed rotors are at a minimum of .015 (Their specs quoted by their engineers’) out of round and I had a set on my truck that were over .045 out of round. This created a very bad steering wheel vibration between 60 and 70 MPH. I thought of taking them to a machine shop and having them trued, but I recently took a MIC to them and measured their thickness and found a .002 difference from the middle of the disc to the top getting thinner and avoiding the lip and taking multiple measurements. Not sure if that is normal or not. But when you got about a grand into two front rotors you would think they would be bullet proof. I am most likely going to put the stock rotors back on when I have time.
