New Help with Sizing

Just moved to the midwest from California and need to change out my 22" wheels (and street tires) for something more suitable for the climate. I like the beefier wider tire look (currently have 305 45 22) and have been told to look at a Weld Wheel (black) with 295 70 17 Nitto Terra Grapplers) will it look too small compared to what I am used to?

Well a 295/70-17 is only 10mm narrower than the 305/45-22's.

Do you think I should try and stay with a 18" or 20" wheel instead? I wanted to make sure that this place is not just trying to sell me the 17" because that was all he had without trying to ship some in? Is there anything performance or otherwise I should be concerned with putting a 17" on the truck?

17's are fine. I think there may be a better selection of 18 inch tires and wheels personally. Do you have a 4x4 or 4x2?

It is a 2wd I have shackles on the back but they wanted to put back the OEM shackles and put a 2.5" leveling kit on it. I have the link above in my first post if you wanted to see it. I just was hoping to keep a similiar look but I have been told that there is only a couple of A/T tires for the 22" and the current wheels don't really fit the more off-road look.
