Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Did that months ago. The sensors have 2 settings. Parked and moving. Once you are moving above a certain speed, the sensors send a signal about once a minute. If it does not get that signal when moving it will set the light with an error code. Parked it sends a signal every hour. To save batteries. After a while, that will turn the light off, then after traveling for about 20 mins, the light will come on again.

edit: Prices are per wheel....

My hopes for new wheels and tires for a new look just got increased by $323.88.

So just to be sure, even if I stick with the factory wheel size (18) for the new wheels I just cant remove the sensors and use them on the new wheels without getting a new set of bands and sticky tape.
My original plan was to use the stockers for the winter, which means I would have to demount the tires every Fall/Spring and switch the bands. Not something I will want to be doing...

It can be done for much cheaper than that. All you really need are new bands. It's just a giant worm clamp. Or you can make your own like I did. One year with no issues. Heres the link. PM me with any questions.

If you plan to re-use your OE sensors all you *need* to buy is the band as the factory ones are a one time use and have to be cut off. The only reason we recommend new cradles is because the adhesive needs to be fresh when put on. Some foamy 3M double sided tape on the back of the cradle will work, but not guaranteed.

Ok, my truck doesn't have this system, thankfully. So, all it does is make a light come on in the instrument cluster if it detects a problem? Or is there something else it does? If it's just a light, ya'll are paying how much for it to turn off? Couldn't you just pull the led/light from the cluster?

I have a friend who does HVAC and he has some 1/2 wide nylon ties that are very strong. Would these work in place of the bands? I could run two sets around the rims for redundancy if need be and they are free. Thay are about 30" long too but I could use two to go around.

I suppose, but I'd be surprised if they held as tight as you needed them to. Temperature differences are at play here and the environment is harsh. Over time I'd have more faith in metal ones.

Good deal.. Metal is the only way to go. As much as that sensor weighs and then think of how hard it will be spinning. Only a matter of time before the plastic would stretch then real bad things would happen.

You should be able to reuse the OE Sensor therefore all that would be needed for purchase is the bands and cradles.
