Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Did that months ago. The sensors have 2 settings. Parked and moving. Once you are moving above a certain speed, the sensors send a signal about once a minute. If it does not get that signal when moving it will set the light with an error code. Parked it sends a signal every hour. To save batteries. After a while, that will turn the light off, then after traveling for about 20 mins, the light will come on again.
I put a piece of black electrical tape over my light which works for me... When I change my tires after 40-50K miles, I will have the sensors installed.

Bumping this thread because of a directly related question I have regarding old/new TPMS used on our trucks, and my searching didn't yield a definitive answer.
Picking up a set of "new take offs" 18" wheels from a 2009/2010 FX4 to install on a 2007 XLT. From what I can understand, the "strap" system is used on my 2007 OEM 17" wheels, whereas a "valve stem" system is used on the 2009 and up. (Not sure if that's what it is, but the valve stems on these "new" wheels are rubber with a metal band in the middle before the dust cap).
My questions is, will I be able to reset the truck and / or the "newer" style sensors to work? Or, are my only options are to a) live with the light or b) break down the new wheels/tires and install the "older" style sensors?
