TOYO MT vs. COOPER STT

ive been looking at some tires i was really liking the terra grapplers but i love the looks of a mud terrain even though i do about 90% high driving. ive been looking at some toyo m/t's and cooper stt's and i love the way they look and ive been talking around to sometire shops and they say people are getting a good 45k out of both these tires if you keep them rotated about every 3k. does anyone know which would get better mileage? and does anyone have any experience with either of these tires and there mileage? THANKS

I have the coopers in a 37 17 1250. i have had them for over a year and drive eveywhere. i did keep them rotated faithfully every 5k and they are still riding fine. if you would like to see a pic, just send me your e-mail address, it will not let me send you a photo.

isnt the cooper sst the same tire design as toyo? I dont remember which tire it was but when i was buying my toyo's they showed me a cooper tire with almost exactly the same tread pattern and rating as the toyo for a lot cheaper. I ended up going with the toyo cause everyone was telling me ill get more miles out of the toyo's. 15k and they still look new, well 95% love them

they say the toyo mud is a hard tire giving you more milage, i'd love to run toyo muds but i encounter snow 1/4 of the year, so a hard tire is just asking for trouble. not sure about the coopers

I ran 33x12.50R18 TToyo m/t's on my 3/4 ton diesel and got about 30k out of them!!

I just put 33x12.50r20 cooper stt's on my F-150 friday, so i cant say anything yet as far as mileage goes but i will say they are quieter and a little harder compound than the toyo's and look almost identical other than the outer lugs. As far as price there there was not a Huge diference between the two 320 for the toyo and 279 for the stt. I went w/ the stt just to give it a try.

no. the STTs are quieter because they are NOT as hard as the Toyos. The STTs are also lighter weight, helping gas mileage. The weight and hard compound of the Toyos help them to get better tread life but perform poorly offroad compared to other MTs.

I have the Coopers in 275/65/18. They are pretty quiet, can't say if they wear well only have 2000 miles on them. Love the way they look. Bought them for my winter tires, they are snow rated. Plus they have holes for studs, which i have. I'm a volunteer firefighter, thanks to these tires i'm usually the first at the scene of an accident. My truck had to be used last week to bring the jaws of life thru, 16" of snow because nothing else could get thru. Pics in profile if you wanna see the tires. Most likely gonna get some 35's for the summer.
