Considering a new look
I recently saw a 2007+ Sierra 2500hd Crew Cab with 22x14" KMC Diesels with a chrome finish. The rims were rapped in 35x14.50-R22 Super Swamper Irok radials, and it looked mean! The truck was overly lifted for the tire size, sporting a roughly 8" lift and enough chrome Fox Shocks to keep the company in business for years to come... needless to say, this was a show truck. A show truck, a bonnefied fully-customized inside and out truck that is intended to do nothing more than turn a few heads, and attract business to the owner's restaurant (Mike's Road House).
After seeing the truck, and disussing a little bit about the stereo system instalation (8 15" subwoofers in a cut-through), I was thouroughly impressed with the overall build.
That sparked a thought: What if I were to install overly large diameter rims, and rap them with an aggressivle tire? I currently have 17" rims and 35x12.50 tires, but I could probably squeeze a similar setup to Mike's onto my truck. Obviously this rim/tire combo would be worthless offroad, but it takes all of 10 minutes to swap my current rim/tire combo back on for work duties. I live in Central/Nothern CA, so it is not uncommon to see trucks fixed up in this fashion and it seems to be accepted. Personally, I would like the look of a nice 20" or maybe even 22" rim on my truck provided it has a clean design and a nice lip on it.
I have a soft spot for Weld Racing rims, and see that they offer nearly all of their rims in a 12" wide version. I was thinking a 20x12" Cheyenne 6 or 22x12 Cheyenne 6, with about a 35" tall tire mounted. I might go with an all-terrain type tire to aid in tread wear, and quiet the noise down some from my current mud tires.
Here is the rim I like:

Is there anybody on this board that has a similar size rim/tire combo on their 2004+ F150s?
Flame away!!

I hear you. I do like the big rim and wide stance look, but I wouldn't be getting rid of my 17's for work duties... sometimes I'd probably mount the 17's just for fun.
I was looking at the truck again, and 22's seem way too tall for a 35" tire. Like you said, they would be better with 37's. So, maybe I'll sport a set of 20's.
